OBX DJ FAQs
Do you have a set playlist?
No. While there are a few songs that get played at nearly every reception every wedding is different. I do my best to play what the bride and groom want for their special day.
What type of music do you play?
Similar to the answer above, I do not play specifically a particular type of music. The reception should be about the bride, groom, the rest of the family and friends. After consultation with the couple I will play the type of music mix they desire.
Can I give you a list of songs?
Yes! The more I information I have they better job I can do for you.
We know every song we want and the order they should be played in. Can you do this?
Yes… But I don’t recommend that. No one knows how the party will progress ahead of time. No one can predict how guests will react, what the mood is, etc. Every party ebbs and flows, has peaks and valleys. Such restrictions usually do not have the desired effect. A competent DJ can move the reception along without such restrictions.
Do you take requests?
Yes! I do recommend a “do not play” list from the bride and groom in case there are songs they do not want to hear. I also provide a service that will allow your guests to request songs ahead of time, and allow you to review them. Please ask me for details.
Is there a limit to the number of songs we can give you?
Evidently this is an issue with some DJ’s because I hear this question quite often. No. The more information I have about the music you prefer the better job I can do for you.
Can I give you a “do not play” list.
Absolutely! Again, the more I know the better job I can do. I will caution not to be too exclusive. Some couple will go so far as to not allow guests to make any requests. I can tell you for certain, your guests will make requests. And with a DJ present will expect to be able to. I can manage any situation but you do want your guests to enjoy themselves. A good rule of thumb is to plan the wedding ceremony for you, but plan the reception guests. You will always remember your special ceremony. Your guests will always remember your reception.
